Convaid today announced that it has been acquired by Etac AB for an undisclosed amount. Etac, a Sweden-based group, offers a wide range of solutions for mobility with manual wheelchairs, advanced seating solutions, solutions for patient transfer and vital solutions needed for everyday life including classic products for bathing and toilet. They also provide a world-class, state of the art range of solutions for pediatric use through the R82 brand.
Convaid was founded in 1976 by Merv and Rachel Watkins in California and three patents were filed. Convaid’s President Chris Braun said, “We are extremely pleased with this opportunity. Etac-R82 is known for its high quality, safety, design and vision to put the customer first. These are shared pillars of our companies’ cultures and we also share the mission of improving the lives of children with special needs and their families. This is a great fit for Convaid and Etac-R82, and together we will form a very strong platform in the world of pediatrics, not only in North America but in all global markets. We look forward to continuing to bring innovation, investment in R&D to expand our product portfolio, and improvements in customer experience and service as part of the Etac group.”
Etac’s President Torben Helbo said, “Convaid is a very well-known and respected brand, with strength in design, manufacturing and marketing pediatric products which fulfill a clear niche in the mobility market. Convaid brings leading technologies, market expertise and top quality products to Etac-R82, which will further strengthen our ability to meet the needs of the pediatric population.”
