Quick-thinking April reached out to Henry Velazquez in Operations who located a Rodeo 16. Then, Mari Galicia quickly sewed Princess Pink upholstery and a canopy for the Rodeo and it was air shipped in time for the annual Holiday Angel Project event. News of Convaid’s donation found its way to Channel 12 news in New York.

Aniya and her mother came to the United States in 2012 from Grenada. Upon their arrival, Aniya’s mother took her to Kings County Hospital for a well child visit where she was diagnosed with Retts syndrome. She now has an aide that comes to the community home that mother, brother and Aniya share with others.  In 2016, Aniya had surgery for scoliosis correction and is now able to sit upright.

Holiday Angels Project founder said, “For all of you who worked so hard to make this miracle come to fruition for Aniya, thank you from the bottom of everyone of all of our hearts.”

Convaid covered the difference in cost between funds that were raised in New Jersey earlier in the holiday season and the cost of the chair and accessories needed to position Aniya properly.
